The two ladies on each side of the folder are inlayed, then sculpted-up from an 18k gold background. The ladies and their gowns are sculpted out of 24k yellow gold, 18k yellow gold, 18k pink gold, and 18k white gold. In fact the total gold used in this knife comes to more than $7000! And the folder's frame is sculpted in a romantic, high relief, Art Nouveau style; reminiscent of the "Cotillion".
