As many of you already know Jim Schmidt, along with Bill Moran, was one of the early makers who helped re-introduce Damascus steel to the general public. Jim’s knives are exceptionally rare and have risen in value steadily since his early death in 2000. It is also believed that Jim never produced more than 12 knives a year at his peak, which makes Schmidt knives among the most rare and most prized collectibles in the universe of custom knives. This “Window Pane” as Jim called it, is among the most highly sought after models, and was made during the “Golden” period of the 90s. All of the classic Jim Schmidt details are here – including the standout frame shape, intricately filed liners and functional bale. The scales are of Antique Tortoise and there is a Fleur de Lis extending into the handle material on both sides of the front bolsters. Truly a rare and wonderful item - the perfect centerpiece for any classic folding knife collection.
